Entrust to faithful people

And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.

~ 2 Timothy 2:2

Claire and I met about 6 years ago when our kids were in P1 together. When Ryan and I moved house in Bathgate in 2018 we became neighbours and Claire and I walked to school almost every day with the kids and our crazy dogs. Over the months we had several spiritual conversations but she showed little interest initially.

It wasn't until mid lockdown on our precious walks together that I started being intentional about the kind of questions I was asking her and she started to ask the deeper questions in life in return. As a result, the conversation quickly started to shift from general to God, then to the Gospel. On the 6th February 2021 Claire gave her life to Christ at the end of my driveway and she was baptised along with her husband that summer in our back garden!

Following her decision to make Jesus Lord and Saviour, she joined a small group that I had started and her journey as a new believer began. Over the following months her curiosity and love of God's word began to grow and God began to change her, and people noticed. She joined the discipleship course that the local church ran and also Engage Training to learn how to share her faith with others. She actually did it twice! (Yes, it's really that good!). There's barely a week that now goes by when she's not messaged me to tell me about a conversation that she's had with someone about Jesus or her faith or to ask for prayer for an upcoming opportunity. What's she up to now? Well, my small group has now multiplied and Claire has buddied up with another girl to co-lead a brand new group. Together they are discipling others who are curious to know Jesus and the good news of the Gospel. This is just one of the many stories of how God is moving here and it's so exciting to be part of it. I can wait to tell you many more stories like Claire's as I follow God's calling here in Bathgate and beyond.
